Co-Director wins award for work to reduce bias

Co-Director Aylin Caliskan recently received a $603,342 award that will help support her work measuring biases in generative artificial intelligence systems and their impact.

She received the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award for her project titled, “The Impact of Associations and Biases in Generative AI on Society.”

Caliskan became co-director of the Tech Policy Lab in January 2024, and her work focuses on machine learning, natural language processing and AI ethics. She is already a leading voice in the field, as a nonresident fellow with the Brookings Institute and widely published expert.
