Co-Director Tadayoshi Kohno’s paper, “Defensive Technology Use by Political Activists during the Sudanese Revolution” received an honorable mention at the 10th Annual Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition. Along with other authors including Alaa Daffalla, Lucy Simko, and Alexandru G. Gardas, Kohno highlights how 13 Sudanese activists used technology during political strife. In their paper, they also examined the needs of privacy ‘while operating under an oppressive regime.’
