Tech Policy Lab

TPL PhD student Kyra Wilson has been named a 2026 Apple Scholar in AIML PhD fellowship.

The award is “part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders in machine learning and artificial intelligence.”

Wilson, a second year PhD student within the Information School advised by TPL Co-Director Aylin Caliskan, was recognized in the category of AI for Ethics and Fairness. She has been a powerful voice for years in the field for her work on large language model bias and its impacts.

The fellowship program supports emerging leaders in academic research through funding, mentorship with Apple researchers, and internship opportunities. Scholars are nominated by their universities and are selected for the program based on their innovative research, leadership, and commitment to advancing their fields.
